Jobs Bowie teachers used to have
October 18, 2016
Teachers have not always been teachers. Turns out some of them had odd jobs before they started teaching.
Bowie teacher Bridgette Hall said she worked at a snack bar in Target. She had to cook on a big grill and would get burned. The grease would pop on her skin.
“At the end of the day I had to clean the grill,” Hall said. “Since I had to be exposed to hard labor and cleaning, it taught me responsibility.”
Another Bowie teacher, Suzanne Scott, worked at a department store in New York City.
“It was in the World Trade Center,” Scott said. “I worked in the clothing section straightening racks and using the cash register.”
Classroom assistant Sonia Delgadillo worked in a bowtie store in Chicago.
“I made bracelets, earrings, and necklaces,” Delgadillo said. “It also was very fun.”
