Every year a few days before Halloween, Bowie hosts Spookapalooza, a safe event for neighborhood children to go trick-or-treating. Several organizations set up games and give candy as prizes. The students in organizations wear kid-friendly costumes and run the games with the help of their sponsors.

One of the main attractions at Spookapalooza is Key Club’s cafeteria adventure. Key Club is allotted the front half of the cafeteria to decorate as they choose. This year’s theme was The Lego Movie. The cafeteria was decorated with paintings of different scenes and characters from the movie and set up to create a walk-through adventure. The experience was complete with a live Batman, Unikitty, and WyldStyle from the movie.

There were several other booths; from fortune tellers to goblin goopers, tattoo shops to cookie factories, and kids had a great time. Organizations worked really hard to make this night as enjoyable as possible for the neighborhood kids.

There were plenty of kids, candy, and energy to make the whole night exciting. Spookalooza this year was certainly a success.
